If you pruned your roses last fall , and did it correctly , you should about now(climate permitting) be starting to get a new groth of rose buds and full blooms in warmer climates , and also climate permitting your fruit trees should be in bloom , in warmer climates , you should be able to start putting new tomato plants in , as well as strawberry plants , and you should soon see new groth on your Grape vines if you remembered to cover these during the recent frosts, those who failed to cover their plants , may find themselves replacing them

Growing Lemon Trees In Containers
When you grow a Lemon tree in a pot , there are a few things you need to keep inn mind
First of all , Container Lemon trees will not get as large as lemon trees in the ground , still it is best to seek out Dwarf varieties ;
Such as : Meyer Improved Dwarf , Lisbon , Ponderosa dwarf
When growing lemon trees in containers , the needs are similar to lemon trees in the ground , the lemon trees will need good drainage , so make sure the pot has drainage holes
They will also need consistant and regular watering , ** if the container where the lemon tree is growing is allowed to dry out , the leaves of tree will fall off
Fertilizer is also a key to growing a healthy tree in a pot, use a slow release fertilizer to make sure that your lemon tree gets consistant nutrients
Container Lemon Trees also need high humidity , place your tree over a pebble tray , or mist daily
DYI Flower Pot Light House
Needed :
1 Giant sized Terra Cotta Pot ( use to place finished Light House in)
3 Large Terra Cotta Flower Pots
1 Small Terra Cotta Flower Pot ( use as topper)
3 Terra Cotta Pot Trays
1 Tube Epoxy or Glue Gun
2 or 3 Tubes Acrylic Paints ( diffrent colours)
1 or 2 Paint Brushes
Instructions :
First stack your Pots and Trays , alternate , one then the other, making sure to have your Tray or bottom item Pot normally sits in upside down , use Epoxy or Glue gun to cement your stack together , pllace your smaller Pot at the very top , and paint as light, once built paint your Light House design as shown , or come up with your own design , once dry , fill your Giant pot with either potting soil or pebbles and place your Light House in the centre
DIY Cinder Block Raised Garden Bed
Needed :
10 Cinder Blocks
1 large bag potting soil
1 garden trowel
Assorted small plants or seeds
Instructions :
Lay out your blocks as shown , one row of eight with one at each end in middle, then eight more blocks to formmmmmm second row , forming a rectangle , now fill all the spaces of blocks with potting soil , do same with centre (area inside rectangle) now using your trowel and plants or seeds place your plants as desired
DIY Cinder Block Planter
Needed :
12 or 15 cinder blocks
1 Cement Trowel
1 Bag Quickrete or fast drying Cement
1 Bag Potting Soil
1 Rubber Mallet
Assorted small plants
Instructions :
place some of your cement on ground where you wish to place the bottom row , place cinder blocks and tap down on with mallet , place more cement on top of first row and place more blocks, you may place as in picture or make your own design, repeat until blocks are how you wish , now place your soil into the hole areas of the blocks and insert your plants , don't forget to water them
DIY Log Planter
Needed :
1 Large Log ( fresher is best, no chance of rot)
1 Hatchet or Axe
1 drill
2 sheets sandpaper
2 bags potting soil
8-12 assorted plants
Instructions :
First you will want to make sure that your log you have chose which is free of any rot or bugs , next using your hatchet or axe you are going to chop out a rectangle as shown in picture , once your log has been cleaned out , you will want to use the sandpaper and smooth out the insides , after that has been accomplished you will want to take your drill and make a few draiage holes in the log's bottom , next fill with an inch of mulch (leaves or grass clippings, even tambark bits) , next add in your soil and place in your plants
DIY Leaf Stepping Stones
Needed :
1 mixing bucket
1 cement trowel
1 large bag quickcrete or other quick drying cement
1 Tarpauline
Several large Garden Leaves (Fresh)
Water
Directions :
Place your tarpauline down , Mix your concrete or cement in your container , using your trowel place a mound of wet cement on tarp , form it to slightly resemble your leaf, place lead vien side into your cement, lightly press details of leaf into concrete or cement , then carefully remove the leaf and repete steps to make the next stepping stone , when dry arrange them in your garden , **( if you like you may paint these ) if you decide to paint your stones you may wish to use sealent so paint will not wash off
